About the Painting:
I made this painting for an exhibit at the International Surfing Museum in Huntington Beach CA to honor Eddie Aikau. He is a famous Hawaiian lifeguard and surfer most known for the phrase "Eddie Would go" after he attempted to rescue his friends by paddling to shore from miles out to sea in a horrendous storm. His friends and he had gotten into trouble in a storm and they thought they were done for. All hope seemed lost and Eddie decided to brave the stormy ocean in attempt to get help. Eddie was never found but his friends were rescued later and they told the tale of Eddie's courage and willingness to face danger to save them.
